Description
In regulation and league play, teams consist of two players. Each team needs one complete set of 8 stones. A team set of 8 stones contains:
- 90mm stone x 2 (one stripe, one solid)
- 100mm stone x 4 (two stripes, two solids)
- 110mm stone x 2 (one stripe, one solid)
- mark
- spot
Every player’s set of stones includes one at 90 millimeters in diameter, two at 100 millimeters and one at 110 millimeters. Two players’ sets are included in the Team Set of 8 – one stripe, one solid – as well as a spot and a mark. During any given round, only two of the four are thrown. While the difference in size is subtle, it definitely matters. The 100mm stones are your basic go-to. Throwing two stones of the same size helps build muscle memory and consistency. The 110mm stone is your “bomb” or your “wall,” ideal for blowing up stone clusters or blocking your opponents most logical path. The 90mm stone is your “little,” ideal for long distance throws or for squeezing a stone into tight quarters. Check out the blog post, Size Matters for more about the differentiation of stone sizes.
Manufactured in the USA, stones are constructed from the highest quality resin, making them extremely durable. The game of stones is a high contact sport, with stones crashing against one another as well as jagged rock surfaces. Over the years, we have found that stones hold up well to these extreme conditions as long as the temperature is north of 40 degrees. Below this temperature, the resin becomes quite hard and is susceptible to cracking. In the event of an unusual stone breakage, replacement stones are available for purchase through our store.
Currently available in three colors: red, green, orange Available in solid or striped to allow differentiation between teammates. Want more colors? Check out our post on how to customize your stones set.
Free local pickup is available (for stones sets only) at Nesting House locations in Philadelphia, PA
